I’m here to tell you that these types of behaviours and feelings are normal when you suffer from an Unhealthy Relationship with Food, Your Body and Yourself.

This is commonly known as Disordered Eating which includes Binge Eating, Emotional Eating, Stress Eating and Night-Time Eating.

What Disordered Eating Looks Like…

Common symptoms of Disordered Eating include:

  • Eating past the point of full;
  • Eating rapidly;
  • Eating large amounts of food over a short period of time e.g. 1-2 hrs;
  • Feelings of being out of control when eating;
  • Eating alone (hiding/sneaking – Hiding empty food containers or packaging);
  • Feelings of shame, anxiety, depression, guilt, disgust about eating behaviour;
  • Frequent intense dieting (including exercise programs) for short periods and gives up within a month or less;
  • Not eating most of the day and then consuming lots of food from lunch onward;
  • Constantly thinking about food, and/or
  • Using food for emotional reasons – dampen, soothe, reward..

If this sounds like you and you believe that you suffer from Disordered Eating such as Binge Eating, Emotional Eating, Stress Eating or Night- Time Eating, you most likely feel very alone, ashamed, guilty and anxious.
