Restrictive diets, such as shakes or meal replacement programs, have become increasingly popular, over the last decade. These diets have a very low calorie intake. Although they can be useful in losing weight, they can also have adverse effects on heart function and the distribution of fat throughout the liver, abdomen and heart muscle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nDisclaimer: <\/span><\/i>Research shows that very low calorie diets do have benefits to those who require them for medical reasons. As such, it is recommended that you seek the advice of your medical practitioner and\/or be under the care of a medical practitioner, during the short phase of this type of diet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nThe problem is, however, the strict approach of most diets and weight loss challenges feeds the All or Nothing Thinking.
